In the latter part of Professor Robert Bartlett explores Norman impact in southern Europe and the Middle East. Norman spread South into the 11th century, control of the winner of the South Italy and Sicily. There they set up a more prosperous Kingdom, where the coexistence of Christianity and Islam in relative harmony and mutual tolerance. Large Centre of medieval culture and learning.
But the events in the Middle East prompted more aggressive side of Norman. In 1095, Norman respond to Pope's Jihad against Islam and joined the first crusade. Blockade of Jerusalem, and ultimately helped win again in the Holy City of Islam. Leave this bloody invasion deep division between Christianity and Islam, which is still felt today.
